6233 Duchess of Sutherland put in some cracking performances hauling the Cathedrals Expresses on the 20th and 28th of August.
First shot is of the Duchess near Cole on the climb out of Castle Cary on the returning run from Exeter, in which the engine could be heard before Castle Cary.

Second shot is from the 27th, and was taken at Frampton Mansell on the climb to Sapperton on the return leg from from Worcester. The engine broke the record for the fastest accent of the bank, topping the summit at 38mph with an 11 coach load. GREAT SOUND!!

60009 Union of South Africa hauls the VSOE Pullman train through Andover, Hampshire in 2005.

Webmaster comment -The diesel and steam trains greet each other with a whistle.

Running 10 minutes down after a 15min late departure from Bath, and still recreating 60022 Mallard's run on the Great Western Mainline in 1963, 60009 Union of South Africa, with Driver Ray Churchill at the controls, blasts her way through Chippenham Station at 78mph with the return Cathedrals Express via the Great Western Mainline to Victoria from Bristol.

Webmaster comment - I love the announcers comment as he gets drowned out by the whistle and the sound of the train going by!

Authentic Scenes from the late 1950's in this sequence as 34067 Tangmere finally was allowed to flex her muscles on the final Torbay Express of the 2007 summer season on Sunday 9th September 2007.

The first 2 shots of an ex-Southern Loco on the Great Western Mainline Sea Wall, takes us back to a time when Southern Locos used to run once per day in each direction in order to maintain route knowledge, should the Southern Line to Plymouth via North Devon be disrupted by weather.

This sequence will be included in "Mainline Diary 2007" DVD, due out in January 2008. For more information please visit our website: http://www.ovpsteam.co.uk

Webmaster comment - I had to include Tangmere - as she was the last steam train I saw last year on 20 Dec 2007 and the first main line steam train this year in Salisbury on 16 April 2008.
