"The Somerset and Dorset" Recordings made between Bath and Evercreech Junction on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Line on the British Railways. It is a 33 1/3 rpm record in excellent condition.
Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway Wood/Metal Wall Plaque - Hand painted on metal shield on a wooden plaque. Measures approx 8.5 x 10 inches. Weighs approx 900g.
In 1962, Gordon Dando, when he discovered that the train was to be rerouted, recorded the Pines Express between Bath Green Park and Evercreech Junction, with lineside shots and scenes from the train. Also included are other views of the S&D between 1962 and 1964.

1/2" x 3.1/2" black and white photograph. Being of good quality, with written narrative to rear. The scene depicts Shillingstone station. Dated. 30. 9. 1962. The visiting locomotive being 53808.
This is the twelfth in a of series of twelve, exclusive limited edition (( of 2,000 only)( each one individually numbered )) 12oz fine English bone china mugs, it features in full colour, no 92220 evening star the last stem locomotive built in the Swindon workshops when under control by British railways intended for heavy freight work . the 9f class also very useful for passenger work, particularly on the old Somerset & Dorset line. Evening Star hauled the Last Pines Express on the S&D.

Highlights of the video include some very rare shots of the remains of the original S&D line from Corfe Mullen to Wimborne, with an elderly 3F shunting at Shillingstone and Stalbridge. Templecombe is looked at in depth with views not only of the peculiar reversal undertaken by S&D trains, but also the workings on the Southern Region main line and some marvellous shots of the motive power depot. A photograph of the Somerset & Dorset Railway station at Shillingstone. Very good condition. An undated picture but probably from the 1950's or 1960's. A nice picture but please remember that this is a modern postcard size photograph an not an actual postcard.

Section 1 looks at the Brokenhurst to Lymington branch.
Section 2 follows "The Old Road" from Brokenhurst through Ringwood and Wimborne to Broadstone.
Section 3 looks at the line from West Moors to Salisbury.
Section 4 takes a look at the southern end of the Somerset and Dorset from Broadstone to Templecombe. Over 18 minutes of archive cine film show each of the stations and halts on the line. The milk traffic at Bailey Gate is shown in detail and sets the tone as most of the traffic seen on the S&D comprises of goods trains. In all there is over 40 minutes of colour archive cine film which is brought to life by a full commentary and the reminiscences of loco crews who worked the line.
