Printer cartridge Facts
+Why Should You Recycle Empty Ink Cartridges
+Each UK household produces over 1 tonne of rubbish annually, amounting to about 31 million tonnes for the UK each year
+Every year, the average dustbin contains enough unrealised energy for 500 baths, 3500 showers or 5,000 hours of television.
+If all the aluminium drinks cans sold in the UK were recycled, there would be 14 million fewer full dustbins per year.
+The total amount of municipal waste has increased to an estimated 29.7 million tonnes in England in 2004/05 compared to 29.1 million tonnes in 2003/04, an increase of 2.1 per cent.
+Of some 60 million inkjet cartridges used each year in the UK, only about 10% are recycled. This means that 57 million cartridges get thrown away each year and end up in landfill sites or are incinerated.
+Inkjet cartridges will take about 1,000 years to decompose in landfill sites. Sending cartridges to landfill also costs money because of the landfill tax passed on to consumers through council tax or companies' waste collection costs.

Mobile Phone Facts
+ 23 million new mobile phones were purchased in the UK (2004 – LG)
+ It is expected that one billion handsets will be sold each year by 2009
+ There are about 50 million mobile phone subscribers in the UK
+ The average mobile phone user will replace their handset once every 18 months.
+ It is estimated that less than 20% of all unused mobile phones in the UK are currently recycled
+ Estimates state that close to 90 million phones are hiding in drawers and cupboards across the UK (11250 tonnes) - these weigh almost six times as much as the London Eye!
+ Mobile phones contain numerous substances which need to be disposed of in safe and efficient manner:
The Cadmium in the battery from a single old phone could seriously contaminate 600,000 litres of water, enough to fill a third of an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Cadmium is being phased out of new batteries.
Lead - which affects the immune, endocrine and central nervous systems, and causes serious damage to children's brains - is used to solder components to the printed wiring boards.
Brominated flame retardants, used in wiring boards and plastic cases, have been associated with cancer, liver damage and problems with the neurological, immune and endocrine systems.
Beryllium, which can cause serious lung damage, is used in contacts and springs and highly toxic dioxins can be emitted if the phones are incinerated in waste plants. |

How Much Do We Pay Per Cartridge ? If your empty ink cartridge is not listed then we don't collect them.
VIRGIN OR NON VIRGIN ?
"Virgin" and "Non-Virgin" refers to the current condition of the Inkjet Cartridges being returned. A Virgin Cartridge has never been refilled or remanufactured, and will clearly have the printer manufacturers label visible. A Non-Virgin Cartridge has been refilled or remanufactured at least once. It will have the original label either covered or removed. These have high failure rates, so are worth on average only 25% of a Virgin cartridge. We accept both Virgin and Non-Virgin cartridges.
We do not recycle laser toner cartridges.
Please note that we recycle Dell HP Lexmark & some Canon Ink cartridges. We cannot recycle Epson or Brother ink cartridges. We do not recycle any type of laser toner cartridge.
