Road Directions

From A350  Approximately 2 miles north of Blandford turn left over Durweston Bridge towards Sherborne, Durweston & Shillingstone A357. Drive into Shillingstone, before Post Office turn left up Gunn Lane, right up Everetts Lane.

 

Travelling from Blandford Forum

Take the A350 North from Blandford Forum until you reach a set of traffic lights at the junction with the A357. Turn left onto the A357 at the lights over the river Stour and through the village of Durweston. From Durweston to Shillingstone is about 3 miles. When you get to Shillingstone follow the main road through the village until you get to the Post Office on the left hand side.

Turn left just before the Post Office into Gunn Lane. After about 200 yards turn right into Everetts Lane. Orchard House Cottage is at the end of Everetts Lane behind a 5 bar gate. There is off street parking in front of the cottage.

 

Travelling from Sturminster Newton direction

Take the A357 South passing through Fiddleford to Shillingstone. Once in Shillingstone follow the main road passing the Petrol station on the right and continue for another 1/4 mile until you get to the Post Office on the right hand side.

Turn right just after the Post Office into Gunn Lane. After about 200 yards turn right into Everetts Lane. Orchard House Cottage is at the end of Everetts Lane behind a 5 bar gate. There is off street parking in front of the cottage.

ONLY WELL BEHAVED DOGS are welcome because of the livestock.


NB: There is a £15 surcharge for dogs.

Orchard House Cottage is in a very rural setting on the edge of the village of Shillingstone. The Cottage is south facing, spacious, sunny and light.   There is a wood burner in the main sitting/bedroom for the winter or chilly summer nights as well as an electric heater.    The kitchen is well equipped with oven, fridge freezer and microwave and there is a generous shower room.      The cottage is decorated simply and tastefully, it has wooden floors and lots of windows. There is one double bed, with bedside tables, two arm chairs, a chest of drawers and table and chairs as well as television, video and DVD player.  There is also a radio/CD player. The veranda is a sun trap during the day, an ideal place to sit and relax with your first cup of tea of the morning and watch the world go by.

 

The cottage also has a washing machine and extendable rail for drying clothes. There is use of a dryer on our house and use of the washing line in the garden.

 

All linen and towels are provided and there is always coffee, tea, sugar and the essentials in the cottage to start off your self catering holiday.

 

The cottage is set in over an acre of garden, shared by us the Chapmans and our ducks, chickens (and crowing cockerels), two Kune Kune pigs and dogs all of whom roam freely and are very friendly.

 

There is off street parking in front of the cottage.
