SHILLINGSTONE STATION PROJECT

OPEN DAY 20 JULY 2008 GALLERY

The Station's First Open Day 20th July 2008

My partner Alan and I arrived around 11 am, and I was very pleased to see an already busy car park - which I must add a a BIG thank you to Perkins for the use of their car parking facilities.  The weather as just right, not too hot or too cold with a nice refreshing wind blowing.

The stalls were very good with a variety of items for all ages - books, DVDs odds and ends and raffle prizes, tombola etc.  it was good to see old faces on the stalls and around the station including Dot Howlett - Syd's wife.

I have to say a BIG thank you to Bill Munden and David Mouser  as they have both worked tirelessly to get the Open day up and running with the minimum of fuss.

The diesel shunter was fired up and tooted it's horn every now and then.  There were 2 mini traction engines and one large steam rolling traction engine and some old lorries. A few stalls with crafts and odds and ends - something for everyone.

David Mouser minding the refreshment bar and visitors relaxing by the fire.  Yes, I know its summer, but to prove that the fireplace really does work - and the wind was on the chilly side!

Visitors relaxing on the benches that Dennis built, by the fire!
