King Edward VII was a regular at Shillingstone Station - which is why the canopy was built, so that he did not get wet, as he disembarked from the train.

King Edward VII used to get off at Shillingstone Station to attend house parties at nearby Iwerne Minster House which has now become the prestigious Clayesmore School.

King Edward VII, was a frequent guest; he enjoyed the shooting on the estate, which was renowned for its high flying game birds.
